what is PRP?

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is concentrated blood plasma which contains approximately three to five times the number of platelets found in normal circulating blood. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) harnesses the rejuvenating power of your platelets. PRP infuses your own growth factors which play a large role in collagen and elastin production.

PRP is created by taking a small amount of your own blood, separating out your platelets and their potent, highly concentrated growth factors. This rich “liquid gold” platelet-rich fibrin matrix (PRFM) is then injected back into the skin to improve texture, elasticity and rejuvenate the skin. Treatments with prp use your own blood, so there is no concern for any allergic reaction or rejection.

what do I need to do before prp treatment?

To help prevent bruising stop taking aspirin one week before your appointment. Also, 3-4 days before treatment stop taking any fish oil and vitamin E supplements, advil, aleve, motrin and other nsaid’s.

is there anything I need to do after treatment?

It takes 72 hours for all the growth factors to be released into the tissue being treated. Please be very gentle with the treated area during this time (we will give you more detailed instructions). For any discomfort, you may take Tylenol immediately.
