Is there anything I should do before my filler treatment?

Yes! Please stop taking any aspirin one week before your appointment. Also, 3-4 days before treatment stop taking any fish oil and vitamin E supplements, advil, aleve, motrin and other nsaid’s. These medications are heart-healthy since they prevent clotting but could lead to significant bruising when taken just before filler treatment.

Do I need to avoid anything?

You may apply makeup after your treatment. please wait till the day after your treatment to work out or do any heavy lifting. You should sleep on your back the first night with an extra pillow to elevate your head, both to prevent swelling. Don’t rub the treated area. When washing your face, the first day use gentle dabbing motions and don’t let shower water spray directly on your face. You may take Tylenol for any discomfort.

Are there any side effects that are normal?

Bumps can sometimes happen after treatment, more commonly under the eyes and the lips. They usually improve without any other treatment or can be massaged. Rarely we need to inject a very small amount of an enzyme to dissolve a bit of the filler.

Swelling can happen any time you are injected. Some areas are more likely to swell than others. Rarely, if swelling is severe or prolonged, we will prescribe an anti-swelling medication.

Bruising is more common for some people than others. As mentioned above, we want you to avoid taking certain medications before your treatment unless these are prescribed for another medical condition.

If you have any questions after your treatment, have increasing redness or severe pain, please call or text us. We want to know if you are experiencing any problems from your filler treatment!
