Asclera Vein Treatment
Spider veins and small varicose veins are tiny red or blue veins on the legs that are highly visible and superficial. Sclerotherapy is a quick and simple injection treatment using a tiny needle, to remove unwanted spider and small varicose veins. Sclerotherapy with Asclera (polidocanol) is the gold standard treatment for spider veins and small varicose veins without surgery or downtime.
Sclerotherapy involves injecting a solution directly into the vein. The sclerotherapy solution causes the vein to scar, forcing blood to reroute through healthier veins. The collapsed vein is reabsorbed into local tissue and eventually fades.
Asclera is administered in-office to treat two types of veins in the lower extremities:
- Uncomplicated spider veins (very small varicose veins ≤ 1 mm in diameter)
- Uncomplicated small varicose veins (1 to 3 mm in diameter) known as reticular veins
Once Asclera is injected into the vein, the treated veins collapse and become less visible over a few weeks. Eventually, the body naturally resorbs the treated veins, resulting in younger looking legs. Each session typically lasts about 30 – 45 minutes, depending on treatment area.
